Ways to Entertain

With the winter weather we've tried to be creative in the ways we find entertainment around here.  The kids have had no problem keeping themselves busy and finding ways to have fun

Here is Brooklyn eating marshmallows that Jace threw from his high chair to her.  Where is Jace?  He's in time out.  And Brooklyn's pants aren't a fashion statement, they're just big on her and she is constantly taking them off (which is why she's clothes-less all the time!)

I have two happy helpers every night when we make dinner.  Jace likes to pull over a chair to the oven & he and Brooklyn climb up and get in the way....I mean help make dinner.

You can't see really well in this picture, but there's Froot Loops everywhere!  I have learned that I need to be alarmed when my kids are laughing and I can't see them.  They emptied the bag of Froot Loops and threw them up the stairs.

Jace LOVES Brooklyn's sunglasses and thinks he's pretty hot stuff!

Jace wore Trevor's goggles around the house for DAYS!  He liked to put them on his head like sunglasses.

Here he is with a turkey baster stabbing a piece of bread. He's stylin' in his diaper and one black sock.

I guess there are "entertaining" things to do around the house when the weather is yucky.  I'm definitely counting down the days until it's warm enough to go on walks and play outside.

P.S~  We did have a really fun Valentine's Day, but didn't take any pictures.  Good thing my brother-in-law did!  To see some pics visit their blog here and here

Face Lift

Well, I've given my blog a long overdue face lift (I'm still in the process). I'm very proud of myself, because aside from a few questions (thank you, Tara, for being my go to girl), I did it completely on my own! I'm finally getting the hang of this digital scrapbooking stuff, and now Tara doesn't have to help me every step of the way! I hope this gets me motivated to do more...because I'm WAY behind! So, for now, enjoy the changes, hopefully I won't have to wait so long until the next change!

Pickled Eggs

If it sounds disgusting that's because it is! Not according to Trevor though! I don't know if this is some sort of Canadian delicacy or a Zezula Family Tradition or what, but Trevor and his family LOVE pickled eggs!

Here is Trevor with a pickled egg in one hand and the rest of the pickled eggs in another. You make them by putting peeled hard boiled eggs in with pickled beets and let them sit for a few days/week. It looks like the egg he's holding is an easter egg with the shell colored. Oh no, that's the actual peeled egg!

Here's some more eggs.

Here's the eggs sliced in half. Apparently if you let them pickle long enough, the yolks will start to turn pink too!

Here's Jace experimenting with the pickled egg.

I had the same reaction he did!

Brooklyn didn't mind them too much. But she'll eat just about anything you give her!
Now I'm a fan of pickled beets. Especially Trev's mom's homemade ones...but I think the whole pickled eggs is an acquired taste. (One in which I don't plan on acquiring!)

Bonk!

Jace is ALL boy! He wants to climb on anything and everything. Last Sunday I was putting away some laundry and Jace took the laundry basket (like usual) and was playing in it and on it. He brought it into the kitchen, and was using it as a stepping stool to get on his Pooh-Car. I hear a little thunk and this is what I found.

I couldn't believe how fast he got this little goose-egg! It was so sad! He only cried for a few minutes and was over it, but he looked horrible! I felt like the worst mom ever!

Here he is pointing to the "owie". I was surprised at how fast it went down though. By the time he took his nap it looked much better. This happened 1 1/2 weeks ago and he still has a bruise on his forehead.

I'm expecting Brooklyn to get one of these any day now. She thinks she's as big as her brother and likes to climb up on anything she can.
