Carving Pumpkins

On Monday night we decided to have some Halloween festivities.

For supper I made dinner in a pumpkin. It actually turned out pretty good, the kids even ate some!
Then it was time to carve the pumpkins Jace chose out at the pumpkin patch. Brooklyn thought they were pretty funny. (They probably weigh more than she does!)

When Trevor was drawing the faces on the pumpkins, Jace ran to grab his Magna-Doodle, and tried to help Daddy draw on them. He's such a cutie. He kept saying "PooWee" and waving his hand in front of his face when Trevor was gutting the pumpkin. He didn't want to touch it or have anything to do with it. I think he thought it was Poop....because that's what we say whenever we change his poopy diapers.

Brooklyn had funner ripping up the newspapers on the floor, but also liked to stick things, like her binkee and crayons into the carved pumpkins.

Here's the finished products. Nothing fancy or anything. In fact, Trev didn't finish craving them until a few days later and the marker wouldn't come off. Oh well!
We're having a lot of fun this fall! There are so many fun things to do with the kids, and they're actually starting to enjoy things.

Halloween Party

Okay, so I'm a little behind on the blogging. Anyway, on Friday we had a fabulous Halloween party with our friends. We all dressed up and it was SO much fun!

Trevor and I dressed up like we were in the 80's. We found some great buys at Savers. And Trevor grew a great mustache. (That's right, it's ALL real! It was actually a goatee before he shaved it into a mustache.) Don't get me wrong. I hate the mustache and think he looks like a child molester...but it was great for our 80's costume. He also has a mullet but you can't tell in this picture. We're in luck though, because Trevor is keeping this due until Halloween so I can get some more pictures! Yikes! It was definitely embarrassing going to church with him looking like this, but he thinks it's pretty hilarious!

Here's a group shot. On top it's Trev & I, then Zak and Kelly (as mobsters), Cam and Sarah as some white trash, and Jen and Joel as transgendered white trash! (You can't really see Jen's adorable belly, but she's 9 months pregnant which made such a cute beer belly!) In front are Paul and Lindsey as Beetle Juice and Lydia.

We had some great eats, went on a video scavenger hunt (girls won, boys cheated...the usual), and played games. It was so nice to leave the kids at home (it was actually their first time with a real baby sitter!) and play with friends. We can't wait until next year and we can do it again! Thank you for hosting such an amazing party Kelly!

Grammy

Trevor's mom, aka Grammy, came to visit for a few days this past week and it's been so fun! She came down with her best friend Cindy, aka Auntie Cindy, to take her son, Eric, to the MTC. What a wonderful excuse to make the long trip down to Utah! Even though we didn't get to spend a lot of time with them, we cherished the moments we got. Jace remembered who "Gammy" was because we look at her picture all the time and was so excited to have a visitor at our house.

Grammy played outside with the kids. Here she is giving Jace a wagon ride.

Grammy liked to feed her little Brooklyn.

It didn't take long until Brooklyn was hooked on Grammy. Grammy gave them plenty of hugs and kisses to last until the next time we see her.

The kids loved laughing and running around with Grammy. They especially loved jumping on her bed!

Here's Auntie Cindy playing with Jace. We were excited to be able to spend time with her as well!
Now, Grammy and Auntie Cindy are on there way home. We miss them already! We wish we lived closer to them and look forward to our next Canadian visitors due next month!

Hay Ride

On Friday Trevor and I took the kids over to a local nursery and went on a hayride with the kids. The funnest part was that they took us to a huge pumpkin patch and let us choose our own pumpkins. Each kid got to have their own FREE pumpkin. Gotta love things that are free! It was pretty cold, and we had to wait in line for a while, but it was all worth it to watch the kid's get excited.

Here we are before the ride started. Jace was so excited that the hay was pulled by a tractor!

Here's Trevor and Jace with their hoods. Jace is obsessed with jackets and hoods. He is such a Daddy's boy!

Here's a group shot again as we're riding down the lane.

Trevor and Jace picking out pumpkins. Jace wanted all of them! He kept say "Dat one" and then would change his mind and want "Dat one" instead!

He finally decided on this one. He is very proud of his pumpkin!

Brooklyn did pretty well, but she just wanted to get down and play in the dirt.
I think this will definitely be a tradition of ours each year. We had so much fun even if it was chilly!

Walk

Almost everyday, I take the babes on a morning walk. Even through the dreadful hot months, we were out walking every day. The thing I love most about our new house is that we live in walking distance to Jenson's Nature Park. It's so beautiful to walk there everyday...and the kids have a lot of fun things to look at. These are some of the views of our daily walks.

Here's the waterfall that you see as you enter. Jace can spot it clear down the road. He'll start yelling "Wata, wata". And if they have it turned off he'll say "All gone, wata".

This is the bridge. We love to walk across it, and Jace loves to throw snacks to the ducks underneath.

Here's a wider shot of the pond. It's much larger then it looks. There's free fishing to the public and there's even stations to clean and gut your fish. Too bad we're not avid fishers...

Of course there's ducks. Jace and Brooklyn both love to see the ducks, birds, dogs, and other wildlife around. There's even horses on an adjoining field but I didn't get any pictures of them.

I'm happy we live close enough to go walking here everyday. I'm sad the weather is starting to cool down and soon we won't be able to go walking at all.

This is what the kids were wearing last week on our walks.

This is what they've been wearing this week. In fact, today was too cold to even go on a walk. I guess I'll have to be an old lady and start walking around the mall. There's a lot of wildlife to look at there too!

1 Years Old

I still can't believe my little girl is one already...and that I have a two year old running around destroying everything.

It seems like only yesterday I was pregnant chasing around little Jace. This is a picture of Jace and I the night before Brooklyn was born. He had no idea what was coming!

Brooklyn's stats at birth:

Weight: 6 lbs 9 oz

Length: 19 1/2 inches

Brooklyn's stats at 1 years:

Weight: 15 lbs 11 oz (below the charts)

Length: 28 3/4 in. (40th percentile)

Head: 47 cm (93rd percentile)

At 1 years old Brooklyn can:

Walk! (Although she still prefers to crawl most of the time)
Stand up without holding on to anything
Point at just about everything
Cruise around furniture
Dance
Kiss
Climb on anything in her reach
Play Peek-a-Boo
Clap
Say:
Uh-oh (by far her favorite word)
Mama
Dadda
Ball
Duck
Pee Pee
Poop (you can tell what the conversation around our house consists of)
Book
Ruff ruff (she makes the sound when Jace does whenever we see a dog)
Num nums (and does the sign for eat)
All done (and does the sign)
I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of.
She has eight teeth.

She is such a bright little girl with such a sweet disposition. I couldn't have asked for a happier more beautiful girl.

Happy Birthday, Brooklyn!!!

Saturday was Brooklyn's 1st birthday! I can't believe she's one already! The past year has flown by, and I can't imagine what life was like before her.

We had a birthday party for the little princess on Saturday evening and were happy to have most of my family there (we missed Nate & Angie and their girls) and like always, we missed Trev's side of the family. We had a yummy BBQ and the kids had fun running around playing with the balloons and toys.

Here's Kylee and Brooklyn. Kylee and Rylan are such big helpers with the kids and entertained them for hours!

Here's Uncle Wes, Ry, and Ky with the Birthday Girl!

Brooklyn got spoiled and had a lot of presents to open. She got a farm toy, a new baby, a teddy bear, a new outfit, and a stroller for her dollies! She had a fun time opening her presents, but I think Jace and Kylee had the most fun! Like most babies she had a funner time playing with the paper and box.

Here she is playing with her new farm toy.

Here she is with her new baby and stroller.

She thought it was funner to climb up the stroller than to push it around! She's such a little monkey!

Here she is wearing her princess crown, although she only wore it for a few seconds and only because she was distracted by the spoon.

Trevor decided that he wanted to get Brooklyn a princess cake at Costco instead of my usual cupcake cake. I agreed, and it was much nicer not to have to stress out about it and spend more time with the kids.

At first Brooklyn wasn't sure about the piece of cake in front of her and ate it without her hands.

She soon found out it was much funner and messier to use her hands.

By the end she was all caked-out. She had cake in her hair, ears, eyes, and even diaper!

Jace was happy to enjoy his sister's birthday, and he definitely didn't make as much of a mess.

We had such a fun day, and have had such a great year with Brooklyn. She was such a surprise to us at first, but we can't imagine life without her.
